Sustainability at SCHAEFER KALK

As a family-owned company with more than 160 years of tradition, securing the company's long-term viability is our top priority. For SCHAEFER KALK, sustainable action not only includes a chronological dimension, but also the assumption of economic, social and environmental responsibility.

In that regard the seven guidelines of the Association of the German Lime Industry (Bundesverband der Deutschen Kalkindustrie - BVK) which express the sustainablility principle in the German lime sector are not only obligatory bat are a matter of course. The guidelines are based on the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the core labour standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

We have our sustainability concept monitored externally and reassessed annually. In 2019, we were assessed for the first time by EcoVadis, the respected and independent sustainability rating platform for global supply chains, which reviews corporate social responsibility according to internationally applicable standards. SCHAEFER KALK was presented with the silver award for sustainability management.

Further information on climate protection in the lime industry can be found in Roadmap 2050 des Bundesverbandes der Deutschen Kalkindustrie e.V. (BVK) (German Lime Industry Association).
